Community Gardens

In Community, Sustainability

As people are gradually starting to move towards healthier, cheaper food options that are also more ethical, eco friendly and satisfying than profit driven supermarket chains there has been a surge of people wanting to grow their own food.

Around the world community vegetable gardens have also been popping up and it’s a heartwarming step in the right direction!

We are loving the one set up in Wynyard Quarter that we visited recently and hope it will continue to grow and build a deeper sense of community‬ and connection to the earth and ‘real’ food.

If you’re interested visit the site to find out more: http://www.wynyard-quarter.co.nz/news/community-garden and please share with us your thoughts on supermarket alternatives such as home vege gardens, sharing home grown veges within your local community, free fruit collections and community vege gardens.

You might be surprised by what is available in your area.
